Dark amber hues hold an array of aromas spices, chocolate and coffee; cinnamon and dried fruit. Smooth and full-bodied, the flavour is equally complex, with hints of wood, toffee, caramel and liquorice. Such sweetness is sublime and surprising, and lingers long on the palate.To obtain its unique flavour, 1888 is aged in medium toasted, ex-Bourbon American white oak casks for up to eight years. But that is just the start we then follow it with a second maturation, this time in first-fill Spanish oak casks previously used for ageing Oloroso sherry.
